you, ”Polar Bear Nation”
As a new chapter is about to begin for our beloved North High building,
we too here in PBAA had to prepare for the transition. We were informed
that all of our memorabilia, merchandise, etc. that was stored in
the building would need to be removed prior to the work beginning.
This was obviously not going to be an easy task. Much has been accumulated
over the years. On a few, cold early winter days in December, “Polar
Bear Nation” came together to help us with the sorting, packing
and moving of all of our items. It is now all safely stored away
until such time that we are able to return it to the building and
resume our proud heritage. We would like to thank everyone who helped
in any way but special thanks go to Mike Lephart, Elaine Botkin,
Laura Zimmerman, Keith Sheumaker, Roger Hamilton, Roger Hott, John
Hoker, and Pam & John Sanders who handled all of the preparations
and arrangements for this major task.
FACULTY LUNCHEON - Due to the COVID 19 virus
pandemic and the uncertainty of having a venue the annual North
High faculty meeting is canceled for June 2020. Plan on June 17,
ARE YOU MOVING? - Don’t forget to let
us know your new address if you move. With every issue we mail,
a few ROARS are returned because the Polar Bear has moved to a new
den and didn’t let us know. The Post office only forwards
them for a limited time. Email us at: email@example.com with your
new address or call at 614-263-3471.
PBAA MEETINGS – Our next meeting is
scheduled for May 13, 2020. We meet on the second Wednesday of every
month at 7:00 PM. Our monthly meetings are held at Clinton Heights
Lutheran Church, 15 Clinton Heights Ave. (across the street from
Clinton Elementary). Everyone is welcome. Come and join us.
PBAA MEMBERSHIPS – It’s never
too late to get a new or renew your membership in PBAA. It is especially
important this year to send in and renew your membership since there
is NO North On The Fourth. We will be doing some updating on the
mailing list for the ROARS so, if you haven’t renewed in a
couple of years, you want to make sure your dues are paid to keep
receiving it. Simply fill out the form and return it to us. If you
are a Lifetime Member and have never received a certificate, please
notify us so that we can verify it and send one to you.
MEMORABILIA DONATED – Thank you to everyone
who graciously donated any kind of memorabilia to PBAA.
POLAR BEAR MERCHANDISE – Another casualty
of the renovation process going on at North is the sale of our PBAA
Merchandise. Along with everything else we had in the building,
ALL of our merchandise had to go into storage and is not readily
available to access. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope
to resume sales later in the year. Contact Jackie Wilson at 740-967-8367
for more information.
YEARBOOKS AVAILABLE – PBAA does have
a collection of extra yearbooks that are available. At the present
time, we have at least one from most years except for 1964, 1965,
1970, 1971 & 1974. As in the past, if you are interested in
obtaining a certain yearbook, we do ask for a donation of $20 (additional
$5 if shipped). You can submit your request by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org,
call Elaine Botkin ’74 at 614-263-3471 or mail to PBAA, 718
Fairlawn Dr., Columbus, Ohio 43214. If we are unable to fill your
request, we will add you to our waiting list. If you were previously
on our waiting list, please contact us to confirm your information
as well. We need to make everything current.
SPECIAL EVENTS – If you are planning
any kind of a Special Polar Bear gathering and would like to get
the word out, please send us the information to: email@example.com
and we will be glad to include it in future issues of the ROARS.
Next deadline is July 25, 2020.
THANK YOU – I would like to thank everyone
who has at anytime submitted a story for us to print here in the
ROARS. This issue has a few first-time contributors and your willingness
to share a story with us is greatly appreciated, as all have been
over time. This is what I had hoped for when I took over as Editor.
This is for ALL of us.
DO YOU HAVE A STORY? – If you have an
idea for a story for us to print in the ROARS, please write it and
send it to us to share with everyone. We are always looking for
input and would love to hear from you. Please email all stories
to us at firstname.lastname@example.org or snail mail to PB ROARS, 718 Fairlawn
Dr., Columbus, Ohio 43214. Deadline for submission for the August
issue is July 25, 2020.
